机器人室内植物Elowan可以自动驱动自己走向光明】麻省理工学院媒体实验室的研究人员开发出一个植物机器人的混血儿Elowan,可以自己移动,应对变化的环境。Elowan是一种室内植物,但远不止于此。研究人员已在其茎,叶和地上附着电极,工厂的生物电化学信号通过这些电极发送到机器人,这样植物就可以沿着光的方向自行驱动。Elowan开辟了一个新的世界,科学家们正在创造非人类生物体,即有机而非完全人工的新型互动设备。

We usually think of plants as vegetables or home decoration, but Harpreet Sareen, an MIT Media Lab researcher,  developed a plant-robot hybrid that moves on its own in response to the changes happening in its environment. Elowan is a houseplant, but it is much more than that. Sareen has attached electrodes to its stems, leaves, and ground. The plant's bioelectrochemical signals are sent to the robot by those electrodes, and this way the plant can drive itself in the direction of the light. Elowan is opening up a new world of possibilities, where non-human living organisms could be augmented to create new interactive devices that are organic instead of entirely artificial.
