Google has called it quits on allowing apps for crypto-mining and selling firearms on its Play Store.

The firm is also barring any apps that are tailored for children but still contain adult themes, along with apps that sexualize minors.

Google is the latest tech giant to crack down on the content featured on its app store.

In an update to its Play Store policy, Google added a section to its 'Financial Instruments' section that's tailored to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

'We don't allow apps that mine cryptocurrency on devices,' the policy states.

'We permit apps that remotely manage the mining of cryptocurrency.'

A brief search on the Google Play Store showed that digital wallet apps, which allow users to store and manage their cryptocurrency, were still available.

These include apps like Coinbase, Robinhood and Bitcoin Core.

It comes on the heels of Google's decision to ban crypto-mining extensions from the Chrome Web Store earlier this year.

Google isn't the first to ban apps like these - Apple banned on-device cryptocurrency mining apps from its App Store in June.

Like Google, Apple allows virtual currency wallet apps and those that mine outside of the device, such as cloud-based mining.

With its latest update, Google is also ban any app that sells explosives, firearms, ammunition.

Google is also banning some apps that sell firearms accessories, including those that enable a firearm to 'simulate automatic fire or convert a firearm to automatic,' which includes things like bump stocks.

'We don't allow apps that provide instructions for the manufacture of explosives, firearms, ammunition, restricted firearm accessories, or other weapons,' the policy noted.

'This includes instructions on how to convert a firearm to automatic, or simulated automatic, firing capabilities.'

Apps that ripoff other applications will also no longer be allowed, including those that mislead users or exist to simply push advertisements.

Finally, Google is also cracking down on apps that are targeted toward kids but have adult themes.

Apps that have content that sexualizes minors could be immediately removed from the Play Store, while apps for children that contain adult themes 'are not allowed.'

'If we become aware of content with child sexual abuse imagery, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution,' Google said.

Google-owned YouTube has struggled with similar issues on its platform.

In March, a disturbing Peppa Pig fake, found by journalist Laura June, shows a dentist with a huge syringe pulling out the character's teeth as she screams in distress.

Another video depicted Peppa Pig and a friend deliberately burning down a house with someone in it.

All of these videos are easily accessed by children through YouTube's search results or recommended videos.
