Instead of taking your car to work, have you ever thought about taking work to your car?

A vehicle interior specialist based in West Yorkshire has designed an office space to fit inside a standard hatchback.

The removable office pod has Wi-Fi, and is even equipped with a keyboard, printer and a pen holder.

Brett Wadsworth (pictured) who has been running Alpha Auto Concepts for three years, said: 'The pod was designed so we could take it and put it into other cars. The good thing about it, is that it can be removed and you can put the passenger seat back in if you were looking to change cars'

Alpha Auto Concepts is a vehicle interior specialist and custom car trimmer based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

They transformed a Porsche Panamera after being asked to take part in the TV show 'Supercar Megabuild'.

The mission was to turn the car into a fuel-efficient office facility with full on-board computer and internet connectivity.

'The challenging part was the fact it was a supercar and they normally don't have as much room in them as a Rolls Royce or a Mercedes,' said Brett Wadsworth, owner of Alpha Auto Concepts.

'It was me and my colleague Chris Pike taking on the challenge.

'There were also certain budget and a deadline that we had to work around. It ended up taking a week of us working long hours but we are very happy with how the pod turned out.

'We have had many people ask us to create offices in large vehicles before but never in a car like the Panamera.'

The result was a custom built mobile office pod which sits in place of the passenger seat and is secured using the existing factory fixing points.

The pod, which is swapped with the passenger seat, is equipped with essential office items including a full on-board Windows PC with 4G Wi-Fi connectivity, wireless keyboard and compact wireless Wi-Fi printer.

The office pod is completely removable when the passenger seat is needed.

Although the pod was created for the Porsche Panamera, the design allows it to be fitted into other cars by making an alteration to its frame to match the fixing points.

The wireless keyboard with built in mouse is housed within the unit and can be placed onto the table. The table slides open to reveal a pen holder (shown)

The inside of the pod is trimmed in leather to match the Porsche interior. LED lighting is built into the footwell and there is ambient side lighting.

'In its closed position the pod serves as a footrest, giving our client a relaxed full leg extension whilst sitting in the back seat,' the company said.

'When there's work to be done, the foot cushion mechanically rises up to a working position and opens to reveal a 15 inch (38cm) monitor and table.

'The pod was designed so we could take it and put it into other cars,' he continued.

'The good thing about it, is that it can be removed and you can put the passenger seat back in if you were looking to change cars.

'We have had a lot of positive feedback from people since the show aired and from posting about the pod on Facebook.

'It was a prototype to see if it could work, and it did. I believe it is a quick fix for someone looking to have a portable office and does not want to change their car.

'The pod can be powered using the cigarette lighter or wired to the battery. If there is enough interest in it, then we were certainly look at developing it further.'
